The formation of the North Troy Stag Rod & Gun Club was finalized in 1983 by merging the North Troy Rod and Gun Club and the Stag Rod and Gun Club. The club is located on 200 acres off Cushman Road in Melrose, NY. We offer a wide range of Sportsman activities throughout the year.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM from April thru December and for the winter months of January, February and March, meetings are at 1:00 PM on the first Sunday of the month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 5 @ 7:00pm.
Our annual game dinner, a.k.a.The Beast Feast Saturday, March 3rd at the clubhouse was another great success. Thanks to Gary Hebert and his fantastic team of cooks for another memorable afternoon. As usual there was so much great food left over that we will feed everyone who comes to the annual election meeting on Sunday the 4th.
The annual membership meeting and election of officers and board of director members were held on March 4, 2012 with the following results: President - Gary Hebert, Vice-President - Dennis DeBonis, Secretary - John Ward, Treasurer - Sue DeBonis, Financial Secretary - Sandy Cooke. Board of Directors - 5 year term - Ron LaFountain, 2 year term - Lenny Harris, 1 year term - Terry Lockrow. Congratulations to all winners and our thanks to all who ran for office but were unsuccessful. Competition is always good and NTS is better for it.
Special thanks to outgoing officers John McCarty and Phil Hembdt and board member Tom Kelly for their years of dedication and service to our club. We are indeed fortunate to have members who give so generously of their time and talents.
The March 2012 newsletter has been posted. Click here or on the Newsletter link to the left. This is the North Troy Stag Rod & Gun Club's official commnication to all members.
Dues renewals are running ahead of prior years. At the September 2011 membership meeting, the bylaws were amended and the dues were increased for the first time in 17 years. Full member dues are $80 per year for the 2012 dues year, up from $48 per year and initiation fees for new members are increased from $66 to $120 plus dues. Dues were payable by January 1st but were accepted up to and including the February 2012 meeting without penalty. Thereafter, there will be a $20 per month late charge for up to 3 months before being dropped from the rolls.
We are gearing up for our annual Gun Raffle and tickets will be on sale at and after the May 2012 membership meeting. Tickets will remain @ $30.
The gun list has been compiled by member Bob
Mohan of Bob’s Gun Shop in Sand Lake for our
15th annual gun raffle. This event is a financial
mainstay of our club second only to dues, so it
remains a priority to sell all 1,000 tickets. There
is an excellent mix of brands, calibers and
gauges and the grand prize of a 4x4 ATV on
October 31. This year we’re switching to an
Arctic Cat ATV. It’s a 425i machine with an
“On the Fly” 2 to 4 wheel option. The
machine is supplied by ALL SEASONS
EQUIPMENT in Scotia. Tickets remain at $30
each and will be available at the May meeting.
This year the raffle is being chaired by Bob
Ormond. The winner is based on the NYS
Lottery evening draw. Last year we ended up
with an extensive waiting list for tickets; be sure
to get yours early - don’t be left out!
A reminder: All members must complete the new range certification process before using the indoor range. The next certification will be held on March 10th @ 12:45pm. Sign up sheets are posted at the club. Phone calls are not accepted.
New members are not permitted to brings guests to the club during the first year of their membership. We will be publishing an FAQ page here shortly to address issues like this.
Be sure to
notify the TREASURER (Sue DeBonis) when you move or you get a new phone
number so you can continue receiving the newsletter by US Mail. The
newsletter will be available on this web site prior to the mailings so
you may wish to read it here instead and use the postage saved towards
club imporvements.
