CONGRATS TO SEAN McCARTY, 2020 Handicap League Champion!
It was a balmy 40 degrees or so on Saturday 10/31 when we hosted our first Trap Handicap League Final Shoot-Off. Thanks to COVID, the indoor banquet was cancelled for this year. Participants were awarded semi-frozen steaks to grill at home. Next year we will schedule this earlier and hopefully without social distancing rules in place.
Here is the final bracket:
The seeding system and handicap scoring proved to make thing interesting and competitive. We saw a few lower seeds beating some of our regular top scratch shooters and advance to final rounds. The Championship Finals saw a father-son match up, #7 seed John McCarty face off (much to his disappointment "I havent shot this much trap in my life!") against his son, #2 seed Sean McCarty, who shot an impressive 100 in his first two rounds (Double-CONGRATS, Sean! Nice 100!). In the end, the younger McCarty took the Handicap League "Crown" , or 2x4 makeshift trophy.
This was a lot of fun. We learned a lot and will fine tune it for next year.
This league approach gives us all a reason to focus on personal improvement and be able to make matches competitive, regardless of skill level. Come join us next year!
Thanks to Joe Janak for attempting to run the banquet, and to Phil Hembdt and our volunteer score keepers for helping us track this all season.

The Trap Handicap League will host it's first Shoot-off this Saturday, 10/31.
This is the wrap-up of the club's first try and managing shooter handicaps and using them in a tournament format.
The scheduled end of season banquet has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19 concerns. Hopefully, we will resume that next year. For now outdoor activities where social distancing can be exercised are approved.
Here are the End of Year Shooter Rankings, Round 1 scores, and brackets for the shoot-off.
